Target Market

Identity Development Fund primarily focuses on youth and women-owned businesses, and those based in rural and peri-urban areas to achieve its developmental objectives.

At IDF, we back the entrepreneur and the product to build solid, successful and sustainable businesses. The institutional support offered by IDF is mainly aimed at businesses that require a medium to long-term partner in growing their businesses. We partner with entrepreneurs who are driven and also demonstrate a developmental consciousness to benefit society as their businesses grow.

IDF will consider businesses that meet the following criteria:

  • Black ownership and operational involvement;
  • Growth prospects and long-term sustainability to yield the required investment return;
  • Businesses that have a considerable, positive, socio-economic impact; and
  • Innovative businesses.

In addition, IDF will consider businesses at various business stages, whether at an early stage or looking to expand organically or by acquisitions. Finance is available from R250 000 up to R30 million from the IDF SME Fund, based on the investment cluster and specific criteria that the business will be required to meet. Our solutions are tailored to meet the requirements of the business.
